Well… a lot of ppl had asked me about my linearts before, but I won’t mind answering it again. It’s not really a secret so, I would like to share it with the others who are curious too.

For linearting, I don’t have a fix choice of tool for it, but recently I’ve started to use this one a lot.

This is actually a default “crayon” tool, with textures removed(and renamed), You can try it out because it is quite smooth and easy to use, because you don’t have to press your pen really hard to draw a smooth line lol.

… and if the above does not help much, here’s another way. Did you use the “stabilizer” function in SAI? If I’m not mistaken, it’s default value is 3, I use about 8-10. The higher the value, the smoother your line will become, but of course it’ll took longer to render the line, so choose according to your needs.

I use paint tool sai from lineart to cging, so… I guess that’s why. The settings are pretty much default, too. The key to draw smooth lines is to draw the line very fast in one stroke, because of this I had abuse the undo button a lot too. The stabilizer in sai is quite useful too. But practice is the main key.=)

Oh ya, brushes… I use the ‘pen’ tool to lineart most of the time, size between 2-3 pixels, setting is pretty much default and stabilizer is set to 8.

I draw freehand, probably it’s because of the program I use, I use Paint tool Sai mainly nowadays.
